Reed's family has over 60 years of combined experience in the green industry, tracing back to his Australian father, which is where the name "Outback" comes from. Reed founded Outback Irrigation in August 2022, bringing that legacy of expertise to every property we serve.

Reed Brown

Founder & Lead Irrigation Specialist

Hi! I'm Reed Brown, founder of Outback Irrigation. I started learning the green industry alongside my father when I was 8 years old, helping with commercial irrigation, reading blueprints, and learning how landscapes are built and maintained.

Since then, I've dedicated nearly three decades to the green industry, gaining hands-on experience in turf management, landscape maintenance, plant health, disease identification and treatment, and irrigation before eventually choosing to specialize in irrigation systems. That background helps me look at the whole property, not just the sprinkler head in front of me.

I hold an Alabama OTPS license, am a Hunter Industries Core Product Specialist, and I'm also a co-founder of The Aftersplash, where we work to bring irrigation professionals together through education, industry relationships, and shared knowledge.

After more than 25 years of working with irrigation systems, I still enjoy the hard problems. I take pride in quality work, advanced troubleshooting, and finding the actual cause of a problem instead of just replacing parts. Just as important, I believe in educating my customers. I want you to understand not only what we're doing, but why we're doing it. The why is just as important as the what to me. Office & Customer Service Manager

Katie Brown, Reed's wife, took over a crucial role in the business in the spring of 2023. She took care of all of the scheduling until hiring Cheyenne in 2025. In addition to serving as office and customer service manager, she also handles the responsibilities of a homemaker and a caring mother to hers and Reed's two boys. Katie helps to ensure a seamless and efficient experience for our customers.
